About LapointeHerman W Lapointe Jr. organized the business in 1965 and was an active real estate and insurance agent for two decades. In the 1980's the agency began concentrating on insurance exclusively and developed expertise in business insurance while continuing the tradition of serving local families and individuals. Today Lapointe Insurance is owned by the second generation of the Lapointe Family, William H. Lapointe and Colette Lapointe McKeon.
Our first branch office was opened in North Attleboro, Massachusetts in 1989 to provide a local presence to many of the small businesses we insured in the Greater Attleboro area. In 1993, the agency began a series of acquisitions which greatly expanded our size and geographic service area. These include the following agencies:
- Pineault Insurance of Attleboro
- HQH Insurance of North Attleboro
- R W Pratt Insurance in Westport
- DeSormier Insurance in Westport
- Barker's Insurance Agency in Tiverton, Rhode Island
- Long & Parent Insurance Agency in Fall River
- John F. Dator Insurance Agency in Fall River
In some offices we still operate under these trade names, and many of our clients identify with the original owners of these agencies. It is a tribute to our friendly and caring staff that these people have become loyal clients of the Lapointe agency.
The original R W Pratt office in Westport and Barker's office in Tiverton were retained by the Lapointe agency and operate as local branch offices of Lapointe today.
From our humble beginnings on the ground floor of an apartment building in downtown Fall River, we have grown to serve fourteen local communities in two states from our four local offices.
